This is the final Sports Report from Vay Sports Festival 2009!

Video Highlights From Days 2-4

Womens’ Volleyball

Behind strong all around play from Chi Lan and the girls, our womens’ volleyball team lost close matches to Garden Grove Presbyterian and North San Diego. They’ve made vast improvements from the first time they came together as a team. Let’s remember to keep this core together!

Mens’ Volleyball

The mens’ volleyball team came up a hair short in some very tough matches (24-25 and  23-25 multiple times). Our guys fought valiantly against San Diego Baptist, Little Saigon Church, and Anaheim en route to a 1-3 record this year.

Mens’ Basketball

The first week was great for our mens’ basketball team. Westminster C&MA went 2-0 with nail-biting victories over North San Diego and Westminster Baptist. In week 2, our basketball team played scrappy games vs Midway and West Anaheim, going 1-1. They had 2 wins, 1 loss, and 1 tie this year; meaning a number 6 seed versus New Life (in which they unfortunately did not prevail).

On Another Note: In the Annual “Old Timers’” Game, Anh Hai gave a vintage performance and poured in 6 points with 4 steals in limited minutes.

Badminton

Nora and Jason Nguyen, as well as Jenny all participated in Badminton this year. Jason and Jenny ranked 2nd in Co-Ed Doubles’ Badminton. Congratulations on being the only medalists from WCMA this year!

Bible Trivia

The Bible Trivia team made the playoffs, but due to some mis-communication, they were not able to compete in the playoffs. Behind some quick thinking from Chi Hang, WCMA tied with SGV but did not place in the top 3. Great Job, Team!

Track and Field

In the Mens’ Track and Field events, WCMA fared extremely well against other powerhouse churches. Anh Huy, Bao Khanh, Lawrence Bui, and Peter Nguyen placed 3rd in their first heat and placed 5th in the finals for Mens’ 400M Relay. Lawrence also led the pack for well over two laps in a promising Mile Run.
